Can I list multiple cities on my CV?

At the request of the employers who pay to access the database, all CVs must have a base city and state entered. However, you can use the "Relocation" field to indicate your willingness to relocate.

Also, if you're open to multiple specific locations, you can copy your CV and post a duplicate one to each city you're interested in (there is a maximum of 5 CVs per account).

    What are keyword?

Keywords are specific words or phrases that are used to search for vacancy. A search looks for these words in vacancy and if it finds them, pulls it up for a user to take a look at--it's the same way you do research on the Internet. The more keywords that are used--the more closely the vacancy will match to what you're really looking for. For example, if you type the word 'cars' into a search engine, you'll get literally millions of sites back at you. But if you type the word '1969 Volkswagen Beetle', you're going to get much fewer and much more useful results.

What is the difference between job alerts and job recommendations?

You are sending me jobs in the location I am NOT interested in. How can I change this?

    Job Recommendation Emails

If you are receiving emails with the subject title "CareerBuilder.co.in Job Matches," then these emails are automatically generated after you apply to a job posting on CareerBuilder or post your CV. These are jobs that are similar to the one that you have applied to or from keywords on your CV, but they may not be exactly what you are looking for. Also, keep in mind that you can receive these emails without being registered with us, so do not be alarmed if you cannot sign in to edit the preferences. You can make several edits to these emails by going through links located on the email itself.

First, if you would not like to receive the “Job Recommendations,” simply click the “Unsubscribe” link located at the bottom of the "Job Matches" email.

Secondly, if you like them and would simply like to edit the location the jobs are from or change the email address they are being sent to, you can click on the link at the top of the email that says “See all your recommended jobs.” Once you click on this link, you will be taken to Careerbuilder.co.in where you will see a listing of your recommended jobs.

You can edit your preferences by two options. You will see the links, “Preferences" or "Add Locations" toward the top of the page, and if you follow any of those links, you will be able to change the location and email address. Please click the “Save and return to Recommendations” button when you are finished.

    Job Alerts

If you notice that your job alerts are not sending you the location that you are interested in, you have to go in and specify which city you want jobs from.

    1. Click on “My CareerBuilder” and sign in using your email address and password.
    2. Under “Saved Searches,” click on “Edit” for the Job Alert that you would like to change.
    3. Change the information to reflect your desired criteria (i.e. the location of interest) and click “Save Edits.”

Why can I not access the job that I have saved?

Unfortunately, even if you have saved a job, if the job expires or is deleted from our site, then it will also be deleted from your 'Saved Jobs' list. Unfortunately, this is something that is specified on the employers' part, not CareerBuilder's. So, I do apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced, but unfortunately, there is nothing we, at CareerBuilder, can do.

Why does my Job Alert send me jobs that are unrelated to what I'm looking for?

The problem could be that if your Job Alerts do not currently have any search criteria specified in the keyword section, they would cause the computer to send you all jobs found, regardless of the Job Category or Location. Thus, to get the optimal result for your Job Alerts, please make edits to the keywords and other search criteria.

To search for an exact phrase, keywords must have quotation marks around the phrase. You can use any mix of upper and lower case characters; the keyword field is not case sensitive. To search for an exact phrase, keywords must have quotation marks around the phrase. So, in order to search for postings containing an exact phrase marketing management, you can type the exact phrase, within quotation marks, as your search criteria.

    Example: “marketing management”

In order to eliminate certain words from your search, you can use the minus (-) symbol with no space before the word that you would like to exclude. If you do not want company ACME Corporation to show up in your search results, you can use the following keywords:

    -“ACME Corporation”

This will eliminate any job postings that contain ACME Corporation from coming up in your search. Keep in mind that this method can be used to exclude not only company names but also certain words.

    Example: “marketing management” -accounting

If a word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a plus (+) sign in front of it. So if ACME Corporation is essential in your search, you can use the following keywords:

    +“ACME Corporation”

To save these changes in your Job Alert, please follow these instructions:

    1. Click on “My CareerBuilder” and sign in using your email address and password.
    2. Under “Saved Searches”, click on “Edit” for the Job Alert that you would like to change.
    3. Change the information to reflect your desired criteria and click “Save Edits.”
